Summary

As an association manager or executive, how do you demonstrate diversity, equity, and inclusion in the actions that you take? Executives can positively, or negatively, impact hiring, onboarding, training, engagement, coaching, advancement, and retention, but too often they don’t understand the importance of structural inclusion or how they can demonstrate behavioral inclusion in their actions.

This session will help association managers and executives understand how to identify processes, systems, and structures within the organization that perpetuate negative bias, how to interact with structures that exemplify inclusion, and mitigate misunderstandings or a lack of engagement around equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Association managers and executives will learn strategies to effectively position themselves to have a positive impact on the managers and employees of the organization, helping to bring their full potential, identities, perspectives, and skills to their work and customer relationships.

We’ll discuss the stages of the employee lifecycle, how to acculturate new people into the organization through inclusive onboarding best practices, how to actively drive inclusion throughout the entire hiring process, and how to achieve breakthrough results by embedding diversity, equity, and inclusion into association systems and practices using an equity lens.
